Ultrasound Scans
PREGNANCY SCANS
Early Pregnancy Scan
(under 11 weeks)
•Confirm pregnancy •Rule out ectopic pregnancy •Check the baby’s heartbeat •Estimate how far along you are (gestational age) •Confirm the due date •Check the number of babies (single/twins) •Assess early concerns like bleeding & pain
Anomaly Scan
(20 -23 weeks)
•Fetal anomaly -A detailed ultrasound examination performed to assess the baby's development and look for structural abnormalities. •Pre-eclampsia screening -An assessment done during pregnancy to identify women who may be at increased risk of developing pre-eclampsia (High Blood pressure) •Pre-term birth screening- An assessment performed during pregnancy to identify women who may be at risk of giving birth before 37 weeks of pregnancy.
First trimester scan
11-14 weeks)
Aneuploidy screening- An assessment to check the risk of a baby having certain chromosome conditions caused by an extra or missing chromosome. Pre-eclampsia screening- An assessment done during pregnancy to identify women who may be at increased risk of developing pre-eclampsia (High Blood Pressure in pregnancy) Pre-term birth screening- An assessment performed during pregnancy to identify women who may be at risk of giving birth before 37 weeks of pregnancy.
Growth Scan
(24-42 weeks)
•Fetal growth monitoring - A process of checking how well a baby is growing during pregnancy using ultrasound measurements and other assessments. •Fetal growth disorders diagnosis -A process of identifying babies who are growing either too slowly or too quickly during pregnancy.
Early anomaly
(16 to 19 weeks)
• Baby's brain and skull – Checks that the brain and head are developing normally. • Face – Examines the lips, nose, eyes, and profile for visible abnormalities. • Spine – Looks for proper closure and alignment of the spine. • Heart – Reviews the position, chambers, heartbeat, and major blood vessels. • Chest and lungs – Ensures the chest is developing normally. • Abdomen – Checks the stomach, bowel, abdominal wall, and other organs. • Kidneys and bladder – Confirms they are present, functioning, and developing normally. • Arms, hands, legs, and feet – Assesses the limbs, fingers, and toes. • Placenta and amniotic fluid – Evaluates the placenta's location and the amount of fluid surrounding the baby. • Baby's growth – Measures the baby to ensure growth is appropriate for gestational age.
Cervix Assessment Scan
TVS (Transvaginal scan)
A cervical assessment is a simple ultrasound examination that measures the length and condition of the cervix to help identify the risk of preterm birth. Early detection allows for timely interventions and personalized care to support a healthier pregnancy.
MULTIPLE PREGNANCY
Twins or Triplets
Aneuploidy, Preeclampsia &
Preterm birth screening
11-13 WEEKS + 6 DAYS - Aneuploidy, Pre-eclampsia & Preterm Birth screening *Aneuploidy screening- An assessment to check the risk of a baby having certain chromosome conditions caused by an extra or missing chromosome. *Pre-eclampsia screening- An assessment done during pregnancy to identify women who may be at increased risk of developing pre-eclampsia (High Blood Pressure in pregnancy) *Pre-term birth screening- An assessment performed during pregnancy to identify women who may be at risk of giving birth before 37 weeks of pregnancy.
Fetal Growth & Dopplers Surveillance
Growth & Doppler Assessment (24–40 Weeks) Individual fetal growth: Monitor the growth and estimated weight of each baby. Growth comparison: Assess for differences in size between the babies. Amniotic fluid: Check fluid levels around each baby. Doppler assessment: Evaluate blood flow through the umbilical cord and other important fetal vessels. Placental function: Assess how effectively the placenta is supporting each baby. Fetal wellbeing: Monitor overall wellbeing and identify signs of possible compromise. Early detection: Identify growth restriction, significant growth differences and other complications early. Ongoing surveillance: Regular assessments help guide pregnancy management and timing of delivery when necessary.
Fetal Growth & Complications Surveillance
16 WEEKS- Fetal growth & Complications surveillance for MCDA This is when twins who share one placenta but have separate amniotic sacs. Because they share a placenta, these pregnancies require closer monitoring than singleton pregnancies.
Fetal anomaly, Preterm birth & preeclampsia screening
18 -23 WEEKS -Fetal anomaly, Preterm birth & Pre-eclampsia screening Fetal anomaly -A detailed ultrasound examination performed to assess the baby's development and look for structural abnormalities.
OTHER SERVICES
Gynae Scan
A gynaecological scan is an ultrasound examination used to assess the health of the female reproductive organs, including the uterus, ovaries, cervix, and fallopian tubes. It helps diagnose and monitor conditions such as fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, infertility, and other gynaecological concerns.
Transvaginal Scan
A transvaginal scan is a safe and detailed ultrasound examination performed by gently inserting a small ultrasound probe into the vagina. It provides clear images of the uterus, ovaries, cervix, and early pregnancy, allowing for a more accurate assessment than a standard abdominal ultrasound in certain situations.
